Program Description:

Catholic University of Leuven, Faculty of LawLeuven Fog

The Catholic University of Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven or KU Leuven) has been located in the centre of historic Leuven since its beginning in 1425. It is the oldest university in Belgium and the oldest Roman Catholic university still in existence, founded by Pope Martin V.  Today it has a population of approximately 40,000 students, of whom almost half are undergraduate students.

Did you know...

KU Leuven was originally the Dutch-speaking half of the Catholic University of Leuven, which was split in 1968 to the present day KU Leuven and its French-speaking counterpart, Université catholique de Louvain. The two universities are distinct and should not be confused with each other.
