Program Description:

Queen's University at KingstonQueen's_1

Queen’s University is is a public research university located in Kingston, Ontario, approximately half way between Toronto and Montreal.  It was granted a Royal Charter in 1841 as Queen's College at Kingston by Presbyterians in Upper Canada and was modelled on the universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.  Its first years were unstable financially and the school had no home. It moved from house to house in Kingston, finally settling in Summerhill, a spacious limestone residence which still stands at the heart of the main campus.  In 1912, the University detached itself from the Presbyterian Church and changed its name to its current form.

Today the University has nearly 24,000 students and 2,500 staff with a main campus in Kingston of 40 hectares in size and a second one to the west of the city of 27 hectares.  There are faculties of Arts and Science, Education, Engineering and Applies Science, Health Sciences, Law, and Schools of Business and of Graduate Studies.

95% of the student population from outside of Kingston and 85% of students live within a 15-minute walk to campus.
