Program Description:

Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg

ALU

Founded in 1457, the University of Freiburg or Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg has a rich history in teaching the humanities, natural and engineering sicences, medicine, law and theology.

Located in the German state of Baden-Württemberg in the picturesque city of Freiburg close to the world renowned Black Forest region of Germany, many of the University buildings are situated in the old town, so students and staff are in the midst of a vibrant cultural centre.

This 'Green City' is located between the Rhine Valley and the Black Forest, making the University of Freiburg a particularly picturesque study destination. The student population is approximately 21,000.

Did you know...

The area of Freiburg has a long and colourful history with the Alsace region of neighbouring France, literally on the other side of the Rhine River from Freiburg.  As such and in keeping with the famous cuisine of the Alsace region, the University of Freiburg has its own vineyards producing 'Uni-Wine' with the assistance of supportive benefactors.
