University of Auckland - January School

The University of Auckland is offering a six week intensive option of academic classes, designed for international students. Over 50 different subjects are available across eight different faculties.  A full list of subject options is available here

Dates
Thursday 4 January - Wednesday 14 February, 2018.

How much does it cost?
The January School is open to students as exchange and study abroad.  A limited number of places are available for exchange.  The remaining places are open to study abroad students.  The difference is that students choosing exchange pay their usual tuition fees to the University of Melbourne.  They will only pay housing and other program costs to the University of Auckland upfront.  Study abroad students must pay the tuition costs and housing and other program costs to the University of Auckland directly at the time of being accepted.

*There is no tuition fee paid to Auckland by Exchange students.
*The tuition fee for Study Abroad varies for each subject taken; please review the subject description for fee details.

Australian or New Zealand citizens who participate as fee-paying study abroad students rather than as exchange students, are eligbile to pay the domestic fees per subject, which vary according to disciplilne and undergraduate subject. Postgraduate subjects incur a higher cost.

How much credit can be earned?
Each subject in the January School is worth 15 NZ credits.  Students may take either one or two subjects over this period; this means you can earn either 12.5 or 25.0 University of Melbourne points from your study in the January School.  You must get your overseas study plan approved for credit to your degree here before leaving Melbourne, and students are encouraged to have multiple subjects approved to provide themselves with maximum flexibility.

Accommodation
Participants in the University of Auckland January School are welcome to stay in the university residences over that period. Special rates apply from the end of the academic year residential period until the last day of the exams. Check the dates here for each residence as they differ, as do the associated costs.

How to proceed?
It is your responsibility to ensure you meet any eligiblity conditions set out by the host institution; this may include any academic requirement, language proficiency test, or previous study.

You must be nominated by the Global Mobility office to participate in the programme after ensuring you meet the standard short-term overseas study eligibility criteria.

To begin, apply using the application link above.  Do NOT apply directly to the University of Auckland.  When your application has been assessed and approved here, you will be contacted by the Global Mobility office with instructions about completing the host university application.
