Program Description:


The Fox International Fellowship (FIF) is a graduate student exchange program between Yale University and 19 world-renowned partner universities.  The Fellows are selected for their potential to become leaders in fields that are policy significant, historically informed, and socially meaningful.

The goal of the Fox International Fellowship is to enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States of America and other countries by promoting international scholarly exchanges and collaboration among the next generation of leaders. To accomplish this goal, the program seeks to identify and nurture those students who are interested in harnessing scholarly knowledge to respond to the world’s most pressing challenges.

The Fellowship seeks applicants whose work contributes to problem-focused, practical solutions. Their research should relate to reaching peace and prosperity in the world and should focus on fields such as:
• International Relations and Global Affairs
• Law
• Environmental Policy
• Public Health
• Social Sciences
• Economics
• Political Science
• Business, Finance, and Management
• Contemporary History


The FIF is open to graduate  and honours-year students.  Students in doctoral programs should be finished with their course work, where applicable.  Students in masters programs with coursework must have approval from the University of Melbourne to interrupt their coursework. The successful candidate must remain enrolled in their degree at the University of Melbourne.  Graduating Masters students may also apply.

Funding Support

Successful candidates, in addtion to spending a year completing research at Yale University, will be supported with a grant that includes:
• Visa support
• Round trip airfare
• A stipend covering basic living expenses
• Health insurance
• Housing

The Yale Fox International Fellowship is NOT open to post doctoral applicants.
Preference will be given to the students who have never studied at Yale University or in the USA before.
