University of Otago - January School

The University of Otago is offering a six week January School of classes, complemented by a range of fully inclusive social activities, designed for international students.  The Otago January School provides an intensive and intimate learning experience, supported by New Zealand’s oldest university.  A full list of subject options is available here.  Please click for more detailed subject descriptions.

Dates
The School runs from Monday 8 January, 2018 - Friday 16 February, 2018.

How much does it cost?*
Tuition for the January School 2018 is approxmately A$750-$940 (NZ$800-$1,000) per subject.  You can view how to determine exactly the cost here.

There will be an administration fee of approximately A$115 (NZ$122) in addition to the cost of tuition.

*Costs do not include airfares; interested students are responsible for funding their associated travel to get to their host university. Australian rates are as at 24 July 2017.

How much credit can be earned?
Each subject in the January School is worth 18 NZ credits.  This means you can earn 12.5 points from your study.  Students may only take one subject on offer in the program.  You must get your overseas study plan approved for credit to your degree here before leaving Melbourne, and students are encouraged to have multiple subjects approved to provide themselves with maximum flexibility.

Accommodation

University College is available for accommodation during the January School and provides an individual, warm, fully-furnished bedroom.  All meals are provided in the College's dining room; breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper on a daily basis.  All registrations are made directly with University College. Prospective students should make their accommodation bookings as early as possible.  A specially arranged package price for January School students at University College from Saturday 6 January to Friday 16 February is $53 per day (full accommodation and all meals).  It is expected that January School residents leave the College on the day of their final exam with a refund for days not used.  Any refund will be arranged once the exams dates are confirmed.  Further details are available here.
