Program Description:
Nanyang Technological University - January School
Immerse yourself in an Asian learning experience in Asia's most exciting hotspot – Singapore.  Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is offering the popular Chinese language and Cultural Studies program, a beginner Chinese course developed to equip students with basic Chinese language skills and expose them to the intriguing 5,000 year old history of China and its culture.  Students will enjoy a balance of lectures, hands on sessions and cultural visits.  To find out more about the program, you can download the latest GEM Traiblazer Winter Programme 2018.pdf information sheet.

NB: This Chinese language program is not suitable for credit to a Chinese language major or Diploma of Languages.

Tuesday 2 January - Wednesday 24 January, 2018.

How much does it cost?
The NTU January School is open to students as exchange and study abroad.  A limited number of places are available for exchange.  The remaining places are open to study abroad students.  The difference is that students choosing exchange pay their usual tuition fees to the University of Melbourne.  They will only pay housing and other program costs to the host university up front.  Study abroad students must pay the tuition costs, housing and other program costs to NTU directly at the time of application to NTU.

The cost for the January School 2018 is approximately A$2,985 (S$2,230) for study abroad students and includes tuition, and other fees.  The fee for exchange students is approximately A$952 (S$1,030) and includes administrative and materials fees.

*Costs do not include airfares; interested students are responsible for funding their associated travel to get to the host university. Australian dollar amounts are as at 24 July 2017.

How much credit can be earned?
The program is worth a total of six AU (Academic Units) which means that students may earn 12.5 University of Melbourne points from their study in this program at its completion.  You must, however, get your overseas study plan approved for credit to your degree here before leaving Melbourne, and students are encouraged to have multiple subjects approved (if possible) to provide themselves with maximum flexibility.

All students will be accommodated at ITE Hotel West; approximate prices as follows:
• Single occupancy for twin sharing room 2 single beds – A$106 (S$115) nett per person
• Double occupancy for twin sharing room 2 single beds – A$53 (S$57.50) net per person
• Complimentary internet access and daily breakfast
